Motorcycle riding towards Cabo da Roca
140 km Loop • Dawn

The Atlantic
Edge

From the historic harbor of Belém to the westernmost cliffs of continental Europe. A cinematic journey curated for the discerning rider.

Stage 1: Sweet Origins Belém & Pastéis

Your journey begins where the explorers set sail. Before engaging your throttle, stop by the original Pastéis de Belém factory. The sugar rush is legendary, but be warned: Lisbon's cobblestones around Belém are notoriously slippery, especially in the morning dew. Keep your bike strictly perpendicular when crossing the historic tram lines.

Stage 2: The Royal Labyrinth Sintra's Castles

Leave the city behind and ascend into the misty hills of Sintra. This is where your motorcycle gives you the ultimate advantage over car drivers. Beat the crowds by arriving at the iconic Pena Palace and Moorish Castle right at opening time. From there, weave your way down through the historic center to explore the mystical Quinta da Regaleira, before escaping the tourist buses via the lush, sweeping roads toward Monserrate Palace.

Stage 3: The N247 Switchbacks Sintra to Cabo da Roca

After soaking in the royal architecture, drop into the N247. This 16-kilometer stretch through the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is pure riding nirvana. The tight, serpentine corners and elevation changes are perfectly suited for a nimble Scrambler or Cafe Racer. The temperature will plummet as you break through the forest canopy and arrive at the cliffs of Cabo da Roca—the westernmost point of continental Europe.

Stage 4: The Devil's Pitstop Boca do Inferno & Cascais

For the return leg, hug the Atlantic coastline down towards Cascais. Make an essential pitstop at Boca do Inferno (Hell's Mouth), a dramatic sea arch where ocean waves violently crash into the cliffs. It's the ultimate dramatic backdrop for a photo of your machine before you cruise back into Lisbon precisely as the sun sets.
